2 Questions for Everyone

June 27th, 2008

1: What is the deal with Clinton wanting to get money to pay for her campaign debt?  It really sounds a lot like palimony to me.  Why would someone who hung on to the campaign, eating up all of her donation money and 20mil of her own money, and then ask for money from the winner!  That’s like going to a high school championship and when you get beat you ask for gas money for the trip.

2: What is up with the supporters who are asking for Obama to pay for the debt and are angry that he didn’t defend Clinton during the primaries?  I thought this was a race?  Why would someone protect their opponent while they are competing against them?  And why would you vote for someone with completely different views just because your candidate didn’t get the nomination?  I was under the impression that women were more mature than guys were…

Okay, anyone have an opinion on either of those questions?

    1. Historically, the primary winner helps the losers settle their debts. Although, Clinton took her debt to a new level.

Initially, I was definitely against it but I’ve warmed to the idea. With such a close contest and with both of them appealing to different sections of the electorate, I’d rather have her campaigning for him to her supporters than spending her time settling her debt.

Otherwise, Obama would have to spend time and resources reaching out to her supporters who are not yet on board. Big picture is that Obama needs to lock down the democratic base, extend it some, and then reach out to others. If Hillary’s debt is settled, she can work on bringing her half of the base on board while Obama reaches outside the box.

    2. I recall telling my friend (Hillary supporter) that I would vote for Mccain if Obama didn’t get the nomination. Truth is, I was just talking nonsense in the heat of the moment. 5 months is long time so my hope is that people are just upset and will have a cool head by November.

  1. No trackbacks yet.
